Doc has composed over 50 pieces, primarily sacred pieces to be performed by choruses in church, school and community. Choral music arrangements in the gospel tradition are his most popular pieces sought by choir conductors. The piano parts are clearly written out, which makes it easier and more appealing to pianists who read music, but are not familiar with playing in the Gospel style. In addition to composing in the Gospel genre, Dr. Hampton has also created Spirituals, Psalms to be chanted, a Mass setting, Magnificat and Nunc Dimitis and selected hymn accompaniments for both piano and organ. Doc’s compositions are available in this website’s Store.
